My cure is to spend 15 minutes writing in a journal about how I feel. I focus on the issue and write whatever comes to mind. How does it make me feel? Why is it bothering me? I brainstorm options without critiquing them. Sometimes, the most off-the-wall idea is the right one. Whether it is or not isn’t the point. This isn’t the time for critiquing. Just write it down.
This process helps me. It may enable me to find a solution for whatever the issue is. It may not. Either way, it helps to get it out on the open, to express myself on the subject. This private journaling process is a way to do that without causing further problems by sharing my frustration with others. If that’s the route I determine needs to be taken, it enables me to see things more clearly so I can speak without allowing negative emotions to rule the conversation.
I hope you find this helpful.
